It is worth mentioning in advance that the choice of this particular postgraduate degree was not a difficult one for me personally. Being a graduate of the undergraduate program (T.E.P.A.E.S.) of this particular department, made me feel confident about my choice, since I had worked in the past with professors who teach in this particular MSc. This fact, combined with the I.C.T. course in which I was most interested in expanding my knowledge played a catalytic role in my choice to avoid popular options such as Special Education, Psychology and others. Below, I list the reasons for choosing this master’s degree and what makes it so worthwhile:

  1. Organization: From the first day of classes to the day of the graduation ceremony, the organization is remarkable. The secretariat is cooperative and serves with complete professionalism. The whole semester schedule is communicated from the beginning, which makes it easier for students to adapt their schedule to that of the school.
  2. Distance learning/face-to-face courses: There are four (4) meetings in a semester, two (2) face-to-face and two (2) distance learning. The distance sessions clearly accommodate students who are not located on the island of Rhodes. However, the face-to-face sessions are just as important because they give a more formal tone to the courses, you have the opportunity to get in touch with colleagues and change views, broaden your circle, as well as get to know the faculty members.
  3. Professors: Scholars with experience in the field, known throughout Greece and abroad..
  4. Research-based instructional methodology: Students are able, once they have completed their studies, to analyse in depth the research articles they study, as well as to be able to carry out research themselves, including all that this implies.
  5. Technology: Technology is coming into our lives at a dizzying speed and through the postgraduate course, and particularly in the ICT course, you are given generous applications that can be used in teaching, sometimes making the course more interesting and easier. Technology and its various applications, moreover, kept the teaching active during the period of the coronary.
  6. Cost of studies: Compared to other postgraduate degrees in Greece and Cyprus, it is very affordable and can be paid in instalments.
  7. Finally, a generally important reason for choosing to do a postgraduate degree, beyond the personal cognitive development, is the fact that graduates enrich their CV with additional qualifications which are graded and thus benefit in the respective job application boards, education executive applications, etc.

My study in this MSc was a very nice journey full of knowledge and experiences, as we actively participated in the seminars and workshops. All the faculty were excellent with a wealth of research and writing work. Always willing and supportive throughout my studies.

This MSc has contributed to my training in the design of didactic situations, which aim at the reflective construction of school knowledge, as well as in the development of appropriate educational material and the design of digital environments. This MSc introduced me to the Mathematical Pathways that I dealt with in my thesis and which I continue to implement, adapting them to the classrooms that I undertake. During my studies I had the opportunity to participate in events (conference) with international attendence. I would definitely recommend this Master’s degree to teachers of any level who wish to have a complete pedagogical, teaching and technological training..

Education is a dynamic process that evolves and adapts according to social conditions. The educational process is transformed and heavily influenced by a multitude of reforms and social changes. Nowadays the supply of knowledge, through technology, is done in an immediate and rapid manner. The modern school aims to acquire knowledge through the cultivation of social skills and purposes. Learning is linked to social reality and is interconnected with students’ personal experiences. It fosters inclusion, cultivates empathy and develops critical and creative thinking. Learning is a transformative process that enhances students’ metacognitive skills. Students reflect on and evaluate learning outcomes by developing attitudes and behaviours to enable them to respond to complex everyday demands.

The interdisciplinary approach to knowledge is a reality in modern schools. The interaction of scientific disciplines dominates the learning process. There is therefore a need for teacher training in order to meet the new requirements of teaching practice.

Training on the development of ICT and their use in teaching practice.Training on the New Curricula and modern learning theories. The Master of Didactics of Mathematics, Science, and ICT in Education: Interdisciplinary Approachapproach enhances the interdisciplinary dimension of knowledge, links the modern school with scientific standards and research, strengthens the multidisciplinary approach to knowledge.

As a primary school teacher and having served for 21 years in Greek schools, I believe that this Postgraduate Program can help teachers overcome difficulties related to the educational process, enriching their teaching with innovative teaching practices and methods. The integration of different curricular subjects leads to the interaction of cognitive areas aimed at the acquisition of new knowledge through integrated curricular subjects. The thematic field of the MSc contributes to the further development of teachers by providing them with skills related to teaching methodology, aiming at an evolving educational development. An educational pathway that is continuously organised with new theories of learning and teaching. An educational pathway full of continuously evolving practices

  • Do objective student assessments exist? Can we test it with an experiment?
  • Is Mathematics in Kindergarten so necessary?
  • How do I teach a ten-year-old to build Goldberg machines? And why would I want to teach him?
  • Does it make sense to tell a story using entirely digital media?
  • What will my students miss out on if they don’t make an electric piano with real fruit instead of keys?
  • Is it enough to find the solution to a maths problem or will I gain something by philosophising about it?
  • And finally, what on earth did Luhmann mean when he said that “People don’t communicate. Communications communicate”?

These were just a few of the countless issues we discussed and analyzed in this MSc, where for a year and a half I mentally “looked” beyond the boundaries of the classroom so that I could return to it cognitively more complete and ideologically fresher.

The benefit that I gained was not limited to the field of Teaching but constitutes a multifaceted life benefit, since the social contacts, the discussions, the agreements, the confrontations and the fermentation of opinions that took place inside and outside the auditorium, developed my character as a whole.

If you are interested in experiencing an unexpectedly different and interesting look at Science, Mathematics and ICT, this MSc exists for that reason.

The interdisciplinary nature of this MSc contributes significantly to the scientific training of the participants, the development of their research activity and the possibility of their continuation in the third cycle of studies. The provision of pedagogical and teaching competence as an appointment qualification for secondary school teachers, the provision of points to accelerate the appointment of primary and secondary school teachers, the salary progression of teachers already working in school units are some of the key points that benefit the participants of this postgraduate programme on a professional level. In any case, the suggestions for improvement of the curriculum by the graduates are taken into account in order to update and respond to the needs of teachers and the education sector in general.
