By interweaving Science Teaching, Creative Problem Solving and Creative Expression in the Arts, this Master’s Program, prepares teachers capable of inspiring new generations of students to think interdisciplinary, broadly, critically and innovatively.

The graduates of the program have a developed competency to pioneer innovative and integrated interdisciplinary teaching methodologies and the educational design of interdisciplinary educational environments, integrated curricula, applications, educational material, training and all kinds of educational projects, applying research-based educational practices that meet the requirements of the digital age.

The graduates of the programme are not only experienced and skilled in the interdisciplinary educational approach to STEAM fields using digital technologies but also possess up-to-date, fruitful and timeless, specialised knowledge of Science Teaching, so that they can both work in relevant fields and continue in the research field.

As integrated scientists, the graduates of the MSc can co-form the scientific discourse on digital transformation in education by combining, in a systemic way, the interdisciplinary approach, STEAM pedagogy with Computational Thinking, Artificial Intelligence and contemporary Educational Theories.

The holder of the Master’s Degree can be employed either as a self-employed person or in positions of responsibility in companies and organisations in the private or public sector. He/she has a complete modern pedagogical, teaching and technological training in order to be employed professionally in the field of Education in actions related to the teaching and social dissemination of scientific knowledge and ICT in programs of interdisciplinary approach and evaluation of Mathematics and Science and ICT including the applications of Artificial Intelligence. He/She may be a coordinator of innovative programs, development or research projects in science education, a training programme manager, a curriculum and educational software developer, a designer of educational material for Mathematics and Science, a coordinator in scientific actions for the school-family-society network, the education of adults and special groups in Mathematics, Science and ICT.

The graduates of the MSc have certified:

  • Knowledge about:
    • the concepts and research methodology of Mathematics and Science Didactics.
    • the theoretical foundations and educational and network applications of ICT.
    • the theoretical principles and methodologies for the design of curricula and educational materials.
    • the importance and development of interdisciplinary links and fields, as well as of the cooperation in research and learning.
    • the interactions of mathematics and science teaching with ICT, computational thinking and artificial intelligence.
    • the functional relationship of the Didactics of Mathematics, Science and ICT in the pedagogical and professional training of teachers.
  • Pedagogical skills:
    • in identifying and diagnosing learning difficulties in mathematics and science in the context of the school or ‘out-of-school’ environment.
    • to understand the difficulties of designing the educational use of ICT in the school environment and in linking school, family and society.
    • to pedagogically and interdisciplinary adapt curricula for learning and teaching mathematics and science in specific educational and social collaborative environments of differential development and management of educational material and Internet resources in scientific learning activities.
    • to collaborating in research and training activities in the field of Didactics in Mathematics, Science and ICT.
  • Teacher training:
    • in combining methods of scientific observation and educational intervention in a school environment.
    • for the design of teaching situations and learning environments with functional integration of ICT, the Internet and the interdisciplinary approach.
    • to create and manage innovative programmes and products for education and the dissemination of scientific theories from mathematics, science and ICT.
    • to set up and manage collaborative learning and teaching activities in Mathematics and Science in the context of the study of broader complex phenomena.
    • to organise and direct training and research programs in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education.
